The DP Foundation stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and the enduring spirit of The Daily Pennsylvanian's Alumni. Established in 2023, as a tax-exempt single member LLC (SMLLC), the foundation has a clear mission to safeguard the legacy of The Daily Pennsylvanian and ensures its continuous growth and impact within the University of Pennsylvanian community and beyond.
At its core, the DP Foundation serves as a custodian of the The Daily Pennsylvanian Inc.’s assets, ensuring their effective management and growth. Through careful financial planning and a long-term strategic vision, the foundation secures the organization’s sustainability and continued success. Moreover, the Foundation plays a pivotal role in the maintenance and utilization of the organization’s physical space, which will serve as the operational hub for The Daily Pennsylvanian publications, brands and educational programs. This soon to be state-of-the-art facility is not only a symbol of progress but also a valuable resource that the Foundation will leverage to support and enhance the journalistic endeavors of student contributors.

Chuck Cohen `89 (Chair)
Managing Director, 1930 Ventures/Benco Dental
Charles Cohen is managing director and third-generation owner of Benco Dental Company, the nation’s largest independently owned dental distributor, and Clarion Financial, a sister company offering financing to dentists. Founded in 1930 by Benjamin Cohen, Benco serves over 25,000 dental offices and dental laboratories across the United States. The company is based in Northeastern Pennsylvania with locations in 40 states. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Charles joined Benco as a territory representative in 1989. After taking on management roles in the company’s sales and marketing department, he assumed a senior leadership role in 1997.
Robert Chasen '88
Senior Program Manager at MKS, Inc
Since graduating from Penn with degrees in Economics and System Engineering, Rob has worked in consulting and corporate roles focusing on business transformation, process improvement, managed services, technology-enabled change, and program management. He has led large-scale transformation initiatives at organizations including Accenture, New York Life Insurance, and Wolters Kluwer. Rob’s areas of expertise include managing global process and systems implementations while leading cross-functional teams with a strong focus on customer experience, quality, cost, and risk management. Rob held multiple positions within the DP including Business Manager, Finance Manager, and Production Manager.
Jonathan Nathanson `82
Former Corporate Development Executive and Investment Banker
Jonathan is a former investment banker and corporate development executive. His most recent former positions were Senior Vice President in Corporate Development at Boardwalk Pipeline Partners and Vice President, Corporate Development at Loews Corporation. Jonathan served on both the sports and news staff on the DP. He is a University of Pennsylvania alumnus.
Brandon Johnson '18
Associate at Fairmount Partners
Based in Philadelphia, Brandon specializes in investment banking, with prior experience in investment banking at PNC Capital Markets. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania.
Jean Sherman Chatzky '86
CEO and Co-Founder of HerMoney
An award-winning personal finance journalist, Jean is the founder of HerMoney, serving as AARP's personal finance ambassador and as a best-selling author. Jean is also the financial editor of NBC’s TODAY show. She is a University of Pennsylvania alumna.
Jonathan Zimman '76
Chief Financial Officer of Jewish Family and Children's Services of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties
Jonathan Zimman, an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania, has over 30 years of experience as a finance professional with Fortune 500 companies, venture-backed technology firms, and not-for-profit organizations. In his current role as CFO, Jon leads a 35-member finance, HR, IT, and operations team that supports the more than 40 high-quality, research-based programs and services offered by JFCS. Jon has served as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of The Arc San Francisco and the Chief Financial Officer of San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Before working in the non-profit sector, Jon served as CFO of several venture-backed technology companies, including Posit Science, SiteRock and Total Entertainment Network. Earlier in his career, he held various financial management positions at Western Union, Warner Cable, and American Broadcasting Companies. Jon has also completed over 20 years of service as a director or trustee of various non-profit organizations. Jon held multiple positions within the DP including Business Manager, Production Manager, Reporter, and Photographer.
