Watchdog Challenge

For 140 years, The Daily Pennsylvanian has stood as Penn’s watchdog. Fearless, relentless, and unwavering, the DP has held leaders accountable, asked the difficult questions, and told the stories that matter to our community.

The DP has always been more than a newsroom. It has been a home where generations of students discovered their voices, forged lifelong friendships, and prepared for the paths that carried them into newsrooms, boardrooms, and communities around the world. For many, working at the DP was a transformative experience that shaped their lives long after their years on campus.

The DP receives no funding from the University. Every investigation pursued, every story published, and every award earned has been sustained by the generosity of alumni, parents, readers, and friends who believe in our mission.

Now it is our responsibility to ensure that tradition continues. Alumni leaders have pledged up to $150,000 in matching funds. Every gift made to our Annual Fund by December 31st will be matched dollar for dollar. Together we can turn $150,000 into $300,000 to keep Penn’s watchdog strong for generations to come.

We invite you to join us in this moment to double the support for independent student journalism at the DP. Your gift will keep the DP independent and committed to protecting the truth. Every annual gift made for the remainder of this year will have twice the impact.
