Press freedom? Paging Lee Levine!
Join The Daily Pennsylvanian Alumni Association to hear legendary First Amendment lawyer (and DP legal counsel) Lee Levine discuss his new book, “In Bad Faith: Earl Caldwell and the Fight for a Free Press.” In this real-life thriller, Levine describes how, in 1970, a Black New York Times reporter covering the civil rights movement refused to tell a grand jury what he had learned about the Black Panther Party. The resulting Supreme Court case still resonates in today’s discussions of freedom of the press.
